Sheep shearing demonstrations:

Raindate: April 26th and 27th, 1-3 pm

It’s raining lambs! Come visit our new arrivals.

June 8-9th, 12-3 pm (drop in or schedule a time for a group)
Rain date: June 15th – 16th, 12-3 pm

If you would like to bring the babies a treat, we will be needing lots of lamb grower and ewe ration which can be found at Shurgain Feeds and Needs on the Fair ground in Fredericton. We also need medium size dog collars, and sheep bells for keeping predators away (found at the Coop farm store on St Mary’s street).  The momma’s would love apples, lettuce and carrots.

Christmas In July
July 24th, 12 noon-2 pm
(drop in or schedule a time for a group)

This is your chance to come bearing gifts as a way to say thank you to God’s creatures who bring pleasure to many. Because many of our animals were abused or neglected, we like to spoil them.  Items we desperately need can be found on our wish list, but items we use when spoiling our animals include: horse brushes, large and small, lead ropes, bags of apples, carrots, raisins, peanuts (shelled), and grain. If you need ideas, contact us at the farm. Shurgain Feeds and Needs on the fair ground also knows the grains we buy, just tell them you are there to buy grain for Pleasant Valley Heritage Farm and they can help you.

NB Day Celebrations in Stanley
August 1st

This year we will be located at the Stanley fairground with some of our animals, and a display and information about our farm. Come visit us and have fun at the Celebration in Stanley.

These are the planned activities open to the public for the summer. Check our site frequently as we may be adding dates and making changes as weather and opportunities permit or require.

Programs that are only available to schools and children’s groups also include:

Fiddleheading
Late may and early June, by appointment only

“Farmer for a day”
Throughout the summer
Length of the day depends on the age of the children involved, or the group’s needs.

This is an opportunity for children ages 6-12 to experience some of the chores a child on a farm may experience in a normal day on the farm. The experience is intended to open children’s eyes to a different way of life, to foster a kind and gentle relationship with animals, and to promote further learning opportunities that may be built upon in the future. If you would like more information please call me at 367-0893. Ask for Kim.
