Educational programs
There are many more opportunities
that arise on a regular basis, and I need a list of volunteers to call
upon for their specific talents.
Training:
Volunteers are initially trained
on the job, and supervised by PVHF staff. When the volunteer feels
comfortable and PVHF staff feel that the volunteer can function safely,
the volunteer may work independently at the farm.
Opportunities:
There are many volunteer
opportunities available for people of all ages with all abilities. Some
positions allow you to work from home while others require being on
site. Some of our programs are held off site, such as our PET THERAPY PROGRAM and
our READING BUNNIES PROGRAM.
We have positions that physically challenged individuals can
participate in as well.
We provide opportunities for vet
tech and veterinary students, as well as high school students who are
fulfilling volunteer work requirements.
Time
commitment:
You can commit to a day or two, or
an event, or a month, or a year…. We are so happy to have you
regardless of your time limitations.
Hours are flexible.
Recognition:
We provide certificates for 40
plus hours of volunteer work.
Work
Experience:
Work experience
is not necessary, but helpful.
We provide referral letters for
volunteers with over three months of regular volunteer work.
We provide opportunities for vet
tech and veterinary students, as well as high school students who are
fulfilling volunteer work requirements. Student volunteers are provided
with regular feed back and support.
Our
Expectations:
Volunteers are expected to complete the assignment they have
accepted and perform the job to the best of their ability. Just as you
are investing your time in the organization, the organization is
investing time and resources in you.
Infection
control and safety policies will be adhered to.
There is NO
SMOKING on site for fire prevention reasons.
Requirements:
Volunteers working with children and the
elderly are required to have a criminal background check through your
local police department. Contact your local police department for
information on the process and fees. The volunteer is required to pay
these fees.
You must have
your own transportation.
You must wear
suitable attire. A list will be provided during your training specific
to the work you are volunteering for.
